logitrans 2011 exceeds expectations with very good result
Almost 12,000 participants: + 37 per cent
207 exhibitors from 23 countries
High degree of internationality
“With 11,856 participants, logitrans even exceeded our expectations. The very good result clearly shows the importance of Turkey to the international transport and logistics industry. Its role as a bridge to Asia is also very important for the European market, as confirmed by the increase in international exhibitors and visitors, especially from Germany and Italy”, said Gerhard Gerritzen, Member of the Messe München Management Board.
For the first time, the 5th logitrans Transport Logistics Exhibition took place from 8 - 10 December 2011 as a Joint Venture between Messe München und EKO Fair in Istanbul. Compared with the previous event, it grew by 37 per cent to approximately 12,000 participants. The international share of the participants was 21 per cent.
Ilker Altun, EKO Fair’s Managing Director, was also very satisfied with the outcome: “logitrans 2011 was staged in two halls with 10,000 square metres of exhibition space. It was supported by 12 industry associations as well as 20 media companies with approximately 50 media products. With a total of 111 exhibitors, the proportion of foreign exhibitors was in excess of 53 per cent.”
The total number of participating countries was boosted from 13 to 23, excluding Turkey. The top five exhibitor countries were Turkey, Italy, Germany, Latvia and Austria.
Italy, Austria, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Germany exhibited in country pavilions.
Dr. Andreas Scheuer, Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs was also present in Istanbul. In addition to attending the opening of the exhibition, he was also involved, among other things, in the “Logistics: Germany meets Turkey” forum. He had the following to say about the first Joint Venture event by Messe München and Eko Fair:
“The partnership between Messe München and Eko Fair was an important step for the future development of logitrans. The collaboration almost doubled both exhibitor numbers and internationality. I am sure that in a few years time, the German-Turkish partnership and economic ties will bear even more fruit. Given its role as a bridge with Asia, Turkey is an interesting location for Germany. On the other hand, the German partner is paving Turkey’s way to the European market and thus to our mutual success.”
Hamza Demirdelen, Istanbul regional director in the Turkish Ministry of Transport, added:
“In my country, which is the natural bridge between Asia and Europe, the transport and logistics sector is becoming ever more important and occupies a strategic position. Our country scored in studies into worldwide improvements as it is particularly well-suited to improvements in the logistics sector. In this day and age, competition is not between individual companies but within the supply chains in which they operate. Each step taken to improve the logistics sector also contributes to positioning our country as a logistics hub in global trade. Our ministry will continue to provide the support this sector needs.”
The international exhibitors as well were satisfied with their appearance at the exhibition. As the second-biggest exhibitor country, Italy was represented with a total of three pavilions. Tiziana Murgia, Project Manager of Assoporti, Italian Ports Association, had this to say: “The Italian ports’ community directly follows the Turkish market. That is why the Italian Ports Association and the main Italian ports are taking part in this important logitrans exhibition. New trade relations with this country undoubtedly add value both to the Italian and Turkish economy.”
The next logitrans Transport Logistics Exhibition will take place in Istanbul from 15 to 17 November 2012.
